Key Dates for Youth Football (3rd-6th)

Equipment Handout and Time Trials:
July 24, 2011 - Rosemount High School Portables (in front of the high school on the East side)

Times:

•           6th grade -             4:00 pm

•           5th grade -             4:45 pm

•           4th grade -             5:30 pm

•           3rd grade -             6:15 pm           

 

Please bring $100 Equipment Deposit Check.  The check will not be cashed.  Please make checks out to RAAA Football and put Equipment Deposit in the memo.

 

Note: Please wear running/football shoes, shorts and t-shirt for the time trials, which will take place after they get weighed and fitted for their equipment.  Players will run the 20 and 40 yard dashes and the Nebraska and Irish agility drills.

 

Players that participated in Rosemount Youth Football last season should wear their football jersey from last year to the equipment handout. Players who have not played in the league before will be given a practice jersey to wear for evaluation week. It is very important that we know what jersey the players are going to wear for evaluation week for player identification purposes.

Make-up date for those that miss: Sunday, July 31st  - 3pm -3:30 pm at the Rosemount High School Portables. 

 

Mini-Camp: Rosemount High School Practice fields

Sunday, July 31st – Players to wear FULL PADS

Times:

•           3rd grade -            4:30 – 6:00 pm 

•           4th grade -            5:00 – 6:30 pm 

•           5th grade -            5:30 – 7:00 pm 

•           6th grade -            6:00 – 7:30 pm 

 

The mini-camp prior to evaluations is only taking place one day this year and is run by the Rosemount High School football coaching staff. The goal of this camp is to instruct our youth football players on the fundamentals of tackle football. It will also prepare them for the evaluations that take place on August 1st and 2nd. RAAA coaches are encouraged to attend and to observe the mini camp. You should take this time to learn technique and observe the drills.

 

Coach’s Clinic  - Sunday, July 31st  in the shed after the mini-camp.  Mandatory for new coaches, others feel free.

Times: (Same for both days)

•           3rd/4th grade            5:00 - 6:45 pm 

•           5th/6th grade            6:15 – 8:00 pm

 

Evaluation week allows the coaches to evaluate players as part of the process of drafting teams for the season. The players will go through several drills and workstations put on by RHS Football Coaches and players.

 

Coaches Meeting -- July 25th , 3/4th coaches 7-8pm, 5/6 coaches 8-9 pm (Rosemount High School)

Parent MeetingJuly 28th at 7:00 pm (Rosemount High School)

 

Team Selection (Coaches Only)

Pushed back due to rain delay Monday. New Dates:

•           3rd/4th grade            Thursday August 4 7pm-9 or later at at RHS student center(West entrance doors, left, past cafeteria)

•           5th/6th grade            Friday August 5 (IYF Board Only)

Teams will be published after the draft and coaches will contact their players.

 

Practices – Practices will begin the week of August 8, 2011. (Some teams will practice on Sunday, August 7th.) Practice days and times will be set by your coach. Participants should plan on 3-4 practices per week for the first couple of weeks.

 

Games – Games will be played on Saturdays and usually one game during the week. They will be played at Shannon Park. Your coach will provide the season game schedule. Games should begin the week of August 22, 2011 and conclude with the Championship Games Saturday, October 1, 2011. No games will be played over the Labor Day Weekend.

 

Irish Varsity/IYF Scrimmage – Wednesday August 24 at the JV Fields outside the stadium.  Prior to the Irish Varsity scrimmage, IYF Teams will have  a 4 play scrimmage to go 10 yards to score a touchdown or defend while being cheered on by Varsity players and fans.

 

Irish Youth Football Night – Friday September 9 -  All Teams Meet at HS Practice Fields 6:30 PM.  IYF teams will be introduced prior to the Irish Varsity game.

 

Pictures – Sports Star Photography will be taking individual and team pictures in August. Your coach will pass out more information and picture packets at a later date. It is important to attend your picture taking session and be part of the individual and team pictures, even if you do not plan on ordering pictures. After pictures most teams do have a practice.

High School Practice Fields, starting at 6pm - prior to varisty scrimmage.  4 plays to go 10 yards tor a touchdown or defend touchdown, cheered on by varisty players.
